Snowdon Dragon Rock by Catrin Williams

My final project was inspired by the rough, ragged and rocky mountains of Snowdonia, and the grassy fields beneath it. The small slate stones, also representing the industry are arranged in the shape of Snowdonia, with crushed leaves used to represent agricultural fields.

The Dragon drawn in the background standing on top of the mountain was inspired by Ifor Ap Glyn’s poem – ‘An Eryri Cathechism’ and the line in it “Eryri belongs to the language” which I showed by using the Welsh Dragon to represent the language. The artwork also has resemblances to the Welsh flag as well with the upper sky being white, the dragon in the middle being red and the fields below being green.
